The award is presented to lawyers who have demonstrated a deep commitment to pro bono service. Ralph is being honored for his work on the appeal of a district court's dismissal of a TCRP suit that challenged funding levels for schools in poorer and immigrant communities within the Clint school district in west Texas. The case could set a precedent in TCRP’s campaign to correct school-by-school funding disparities within school districts that have similar patterns.
Ralph, a member of Weil’s firmwide Pro Bono Committee, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to pro bono work during his career. His recent work includes representations on behalf of tenants who averted dismantling of low income public housing, a death row inmate asserting actual innocence, immigrants seeking asylum and handicapped inmates.
The dinner, which will feature civil rights icon Reverend James Lawson as keynote speaker, will also honor Jason Wright, a lawyer in the firm's Dallas office, for his work on the appeal.
