Weil Corporate attorneys Glenn D. West and Natalie A. Smeltzer are among the recipients of the 2012 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. Their article, “Protecting the Integrity of the Entity-Specific Contract: The ‘No Recourse Against Others’ Clause – Missing or Ineffective Boilerplate?”, which appeared in the November 2011 issue of The Business Lawyer, was selected as one of the nation’s 35 best law firm articles of the past year. Mr. West, who specializes in private equity and M&A transactions, is managing partner of Weil’s Dallas office; Ms. Smeltzer, an associate in the Dallas office, focuses her practice on private equity and M&A transactions.
Now in its 13th year, the annual Burton Awards honor achievements in the legal field, ranging from legal writing to publications to reforms in the law. This year’s winning authors were selected from entries submitted by the nation’s 1,000 largest and most prestigious law firms. The program is funded by the Burton Foundation, a non-profit, academic effort devoted to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the legal profession, and run in association with the Library of Congress.
The awards will be given at an event at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, on June 11, 2012.
