Weil won three awards at the New York Law Journal’s New York Legal Awards, which took place on October 17 in New York City. Senior Partner Ira Millstein was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and partners Jared Friedmann and Faiza Rahman were honored as Rising Stars. Profiles of the winners were published in a special section of the NYLJ on October 17, in conjunction with the awards ceremony.
Senior Partner Ira Millstein was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his career-long accomplishments and impact on the national legal community. Throughout Mr. Millstein’s illustrious career, he has made a significant impact as a lawyer, academic, author and philanthropist. The special profile of Mr. Millstein was written by Executive Partner Barry Wolf. In the profile, Mr. Wolf highlights Mr. Millstein’s distinguished career, noting he has transformed the relationship between companies’ boards and their shareholders. Mr. Wolf also highlighted Mr. Millstein’s dedication to academia and philanthropy in the profile, as well as their personal mentoring relationship and friendship. Mr. Wolf wrote, “Like so many others, I am proud to call Ira a mentor, but I am even more proud, and consider myself fortunate, to also be able to call him a friend. It's truly hard to imagine a more deserving recipient of a lifetime achievement award in the legal profession. With his brilliance, charisma, generosity and magnetism, Ira has left an indelible mark on the legal field, the Weil community and so many others.”
In addition, partners Jared Friedmann and Faiza Rahman were honored as Rising Stars. This distinction recognizes “the best and brightest among New York’s legal community” under the age of 40. Mr. Friedmann’s profile notes his practice focuses on Complex Commercial Litigation and highlights his work as leading Weil's Special Education Team, which has represented NYC special needs children in more than 70 cases against the NYC Department of Education. Ms. Rahman’s profile notes her practice focuses on Capital Markets and highlights her work with the Asian American Legal Defense & Education Fund and Muslim Advocates and International Rescue Committee, and her dedication to diversity and inclusion at Weil and across the legal industry.
