Weil won six awards at the sixth-annual Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Americas Women in Business Law Awards on June 8, earning more recognitions than any other law firm. The awards celebrate the achievements of firms setting the standard in terms of female-friendly work practices and women leading the field in the legal sector across the Americas.
Litigation partner Diane Sullivan was presented with the “Outstanding Practitioner” award, which is given to just one lawyer each year in recognition of her services to the law. Ms. Sullivan is a nationally recognized trial attorney who specializes in complex commercial litigation, class action and mass tort cases across a range of industries.
In the individual categories, Annemargaret Connolly, Head of Weil’s Environmental practice, was named “Best in Environment.” In addition, Capital Markets partner Faiza Rahman was awarded the recognition of “Rising Star” in Finance, and Securities Litigation partner Caroline Zalka received the recognition of “Rising Star” in Litigation. The individual practice awards recognize the best lawyer in a specific practice area and are judged on the basis of professional accomplishments as well as advocacy and influence in her field over the past year.
Weil was also honored with two firmwide achievement awards: “Best International Firm for Pro Bono Work” and “Best International Firm for Diversity.” This is the second time the Firm has won each of these awards. Over the past year, Weil’s pro bono matters spanned the spectrum of need, including asylum and refuge, criminal justice reform, human rights, community and economic development, civil and constitutional rights and children’s welfare. On the diversity and inclusion side, Weil continued its longstanding tradition of investing in formal initiatives to cultivate an inclusive culture where all feel comfortable and encouraged to excel.
