Weil Wins Prestigious Pro Bono Awards in Dallas

— Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program
Weil’s exceptional pro bono service was recognized with two awards from the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, at an October 29 ceremony. The Firm’s Dallas office received the 2014 Lisa Blue & Fred Baron Access to Justice Award, which recognizes outstanding commitment to pro bono work, while litigation associate Sandy Fusco was presented with the 2014 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

Weil was honored with the Access to Justice Award for its extraordinary pro bono contributions to the DVAP over the last decade, including Weil’s establishment of the Lend-A-Lawyer program, under which a Weil attorney devotes three months to full-time, on-site pro bono representation of indigent clients at DVAP. Weil is the only firm in Dallas to make such a commitment.

Ms. Fusco, who was selected as Weil’s 2013 Lend-A-Lawyer to the DVAP, was recognized for performing more than 713 hours of pro bono service in 2013, including 184 hours of pro bono service outside of the Lend-A-Lawyer program. She assisted indigent clients on a variety of matters, including child custody, consumer law, probate, adoption, guardianship, and divorce cases.
