Benchmark Litigation has honored Weil with Firm of the Year awards for both Antitrust and Intellectual Property. The achievements were announced last night as part of the fifth annual Benchmark Litigation U.S. awards ceremony, which was held at the Essex House in New York City.
In addition to the practice group awards, Weil Antitrust/Competition head Steven Newborn was shortlisted for Antitrust Attorney of the Year, while Litigation Department co-chair David Lender and Patent Litigation partner Edward Reines were shortlisted for Intellectual Property Attorney of the Year.
This recent recognition caps an exceptional year of distinction for the Firm, which was also lauded in Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 guide as an “undisputed legal services powerhouse,” and a “truly national” leader.
Comprising approximately 400 lawyers, Weil’s Litigation Department is one of the largest, most diversified and highly respected in the legal industry. As Benchmark Litigation has noted, even Weil’s competitors “routinely acknowledge the firm’s recent streak of courtroom victories, of which the firm has had no shortage in 2016 alone.”
The nominees for the awards ceremony were chosen based upon research, conducted between March and November 2016, that included an analysis of recent casework as well as interviews with the nation’s leading private practice lawyers and in-house counsel.
