Weil was recognized in The American Lawyer’s pro bono special report for its ongoing commitment to pro bono, both in the United States and globally. The Firm was ranked 16th for national pro bono efforts and 11th for international pro bono efforts among AmLaw 200 firms. This is the first year that international pro bono at U.S. firms was tracked.  Weil’s average pro bono hours per U.S.-based lawyer is 92.9, significantly higher than the AmLaw 200 average of 55 pro bono hours per U.S.-based lawyer.

In an accompanying article, Weil’s London office was noted for its work with the Legal Response Initiative and Britain’s National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. In addition, Paris-based litigation associate Alexandre Vermynck was pictured and featured for his prestigious role of First Secretary to the Paris Bar’s Conference des Avocats. Alexandre’s criminal defense of a Frenchman who filmed a jihadi video in Timbuktu was also mentioned.

Weil’s pro bono committee was noted for including senior partners from most of the Firm’s offices. Pro bono counsel Miriam Buhl was quoted on the importance of infrastructure for facilitating pro bono work within law firms.
