Weil Recognized by GIR as a Market Leader for FCPA Investigations and Enforcement in 2018

Weil’s global White Collar Defense, Regulatory and Investigations practice was recently recognized by Global Investigations Review and Just Anti-Corruption as one of the best in the market for corporate FCPA investigations and defense. Weil was highlighted for securing more publicly reported declinations (four) from the DOJ in FCPA investigations than any other U.S. law firm over the past two years, and the second-highest number of declinations of any U.S. law firm since 2010.

A declination from the DOJ – the agency’s indication that it is terminating an investigation without bringing charges or imposing any penalty – is the best result a client can achieve in a white collar matter of any type, but especially in FCPA investigations, given their potential for significant reputational harm and financial exposure. Based on the publications’ research, there have been only 86 reported DOJ declinations over the past eight years.

As reported by GIR, Weil secured declinations for four different companies in multi-faceted and multi-jurisdictional FCPA investigations, including on behalf of a global pharmaceutical company, an IT services company and two separate oil services industry companies.
