Corporate associate Preston Moore, who is based in the Firm’s Dallas office, has received the Outstanding In-House Attorney Award from the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas.
The award recognizes Mr. Moore’s exceptional pro bono work on behalf of DVAP and his outstanding efforts in the justice system. Earlier this year, Mr. Moore was announced as Weil’s 12th Lend-a-Lawyer and spent two months working full-time on-site at DVAP. Weil created the pioneering Lend-A-Lawyer program in 2005, and through it the Firm sends a third- or fourth-year attorney to provide pro bono legal services at the organization while continuing to receive full pay and benefits from Weil.
In addition, Weil’s Dallas office received the DVAP Silver Award for Pro Bono Service in recognition of its service to the Dallas community and in furthering DVAP’s mission to directly assist those in need of critical legal services.
DVAP is dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor in Dallas through the recruitment, training and support of volunteer attorneys. DVAP provides legal representation for low-income applicants with problems in civil law matters, including family, bankruptcy, housing, consumer, employment termination and wage claims, guardianships, wills and small estates.
