Weil was named among the top three firms globally for cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters in the 2020 edition of Global Restructuring Review’s GRR 30. The Firm earned this accolade based on its global network and expertise, outstanding quality of work, record of innovation and premier clients, among other factors.
The publication noted that Weil “originated the modern bankruptcy practice,” highlighting the Firm’s accomplishments at the very forefront of the field – a record that includes leading six of the seven largest bankruptcy filings in U.S. history.
The publication highlighted Weil’s recent achievements leading the chapter 11 restructurings of J.Crew Group Inc., SpeedCast International Limited, EP Energy, and Brooks Brothers Group Inc. It also noted the groundbreaking cross-border restructuring of syncreon Group Holdings B.V. and Weil’s work advising Rallye, parent company of French retailer Casino Group, in a multibillion-euro restructuring. GRR also emphasized Weil’s creditor-side accomplishments and international capabilities, noting its representations of noteholders in the restructuring of telecoms group Digicel, Asia Research and Capital Management in the restructuring of Premier Oil, and the provisional liquidators of Abraaj Investment Management.
The GRR 30 is an annual guide to the world’s leading cross-border restructuring and insolvency practices, and is an elite selection chosen from the most recent GRR 100.
