Weil has been ranked 7th overall in Legal Week’s second annual pro bono ranking of U.K. firms. It is the second consecutive year Weil has received this high ranking, underscoring the Firm’s commitment to pro bono service and leadership in the legal community.
The publication recognized the high levels of pro bono engagement by Weil’s lawyers in London and the amount of time they dedicate to pro bono matters, noting that Weil’s total number of pro bono hours was among the highest by major U.S. firms.
Notably, the Firm was also commended for its “groundbreaking” pro bono efforts. The profile highlighted Weil’s work with longstanding client Refuge, the U.K.’s largest specialist provider of domestic abuse services, on submitting recommendations to the U.K. government on its draft legislative Domestic Abuse Bill.
More than 40 international law firms participated in Legal Week’s pro bono survey. The publication selected the top 10 firms based on six key metrics: the total number of pro bono hours worked in the U.K. in the last financial year; the number of pro bono hours per fee earner; the percentage of lawyers doing pro bono; the number of full- or part-time pro bono professionals; whether pro bono work counts toward lawyers’ utilization targets; and how firms’ efforts were rated by their peers.
