Weil partner Diane Sullivan was selected in Benchmark Litigation’s third annual edition of Top 250 Women in Litigation and featured as one of the publication’s “Top 10 Women Litigators” for the third year in a row.
Diane Sullivan is a partner in the Litigation Department in Weil’s New York and New Jersey offices. The publication notes that peers call her “one of the best tobacco defense litigators out there,” while also mentioning her work on general commercial disputes. In 2011, as lead counsel for Philip Morris USA, she secured a defense verdict in a four-month trial in St. Louis in which 37 Missouri hospitals sued for half a billion dollars in economic loss plus punitive damages relating to costs for treating patients with smoking-related illness. In 2013, she was lead trial counsel for ESPN, Inc., securing a significant defense verdict following a three-week trial in New York involving more than $150 million in claims brought by Dish Network. She was included in the 2012 and 2013 editions of Top 250 Women in Litigation and is a 2013 and 2014 national Benchmark star for Product Liability.
The lawyers featured in Top 250 Women in Litigation were selected from the 2014 edition of its parent publication, Benchmark Litigation, a peer-reviewed guide identifying the leading U.S. trial attorneys based on extensive interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house legal counsel. The “Top Ten Women Litigators” were selected from these ranks for their overall career achievements and high-profile cases.
