Weil Earns 2022 “Litigation Department of the Year” Honorable Mention from The American Lawyer

Weil was recognized among a select group of firms from across the country with an Honorable Mention in the General Litigation category in The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Department of the Year” competition for 2022 – the third consecutive time the Firm has placed in the publication’s biennial competition.

The American Lawyer noted “the incredibly high quality of work being done in courtrooms across the country” and went on to say “the cases we read about highlight the tenacity and stellar advocacy of the litigators involved in these matters.”

The publication highlighted Weil’s litigation achievements over the past two years, including “securing a precedent-setting victory addressing material adverse effects” for Carlyle Group arising out of Carlyle’s withdrawal from its planned acquisition of a major stake in American Express Global Business Travel. Weil was also noted for securing a complete defense jury verdict for C&S Wholesale in a multibillion-dollar antitrust class action, as well as securing a unanimous opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of Hungary relating to the scope of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
