Weil has donated approximately $1.5 million in attorney fees received as a result of a pro bono trial victory in federal court in Arizona to six nonprofit organizations, as reported in The American Lawyer. The six organizations receiving the charitable contributions are focused on cultivating the next generation of ethnic studies educators and civil rights advocates, as well as furthering policy and research, with emphasis on the Mexican-American community.
In August 2017, Weil won a major civil rights victory for Mexican-American students in a high-profile case that challenged the enactment and enforcement of an Arizona state statute designed to eliminate Mexican-American Studies (MAS) courses in Tucson public schools.
