Weil Litigation associate Lara Bach was sworn in as the President of the Miami-Dade chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL) at an installation dinner on June 7, 2018, where she pledged to address implicit bias in the legal profession and create a not-for-profit charitable organization to raise funds for law school scholarships and other charitable causes.
Ms. Bach, who on May 7 was named a lawyer “On the Rise” at the Daily Business Review’s 2018 Professional Excellence Awards, has been a member of MDFAWL since 2011, serving most recently as President-elect (2017-2018) and previously as Secretary (2016-2017), Treasurer (2015-2016), Newsletter Editor (2014-2015) and board member (2012-2014).
In addition, in 2015, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers recognized Ms. Bach as one of its annual “Leaders in the Law,” an award bestowed on women who have made significant impacts in their communities. Throughout her career, Ms. Bach has been an active contributor to her community, mentoring young female law students and representing children and other victims of human trafficking pro bono.
The MDFAWL is a volunteer bar association dedicated to the professional advancement of women lawyers and the promotion of women’s rights. It is open to men and women who are members of the bar in any state, law students and non-lawyer “affiliates” approved by the Board of Directors. MDFAWL members advance the science of jurisprudence; promote reform in law; facilitate the administration of justice; uphold the highest standards of integrity, learning, honor and courtesy in the legal profession; and promote women’s rights and the common interests of women lawyers.
Weil is proud to foster our attorneys’ engagement with the Miami community, as well as develop the next generation of leading business lawyers. Ms. Bach’s dedication to the MDFAWL is a testament to the Firm’s commitment to developing talented leaders and leveraging that talent to build a meaningful legal community.
