International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Jimmy Cao, a first-year student at Columbia Law School, is the winner of the Weil 1L Diversity $10,000 Fellowship award for 2019. Jimmy will be a Summer Associate in the New York office.
The Weil 1L Diversity Fellowship Program, announced in October 2011, supports the Firm’s overall commitment to diversity and is designed to increase the number of diverse attorneys who want to pursue careers at one of its U.S. offices. The program was open to current students at ABA-accredited law schools who have successfully completed the first semester of their first year of a full-time J.D. program, with an expected graduation date of spring 2021, and who intend to practice law in a major city of the United States.
Jimmy Cao received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the College of William & Mary in 2016. He also received a Minor degree in Mathematics. During his time as an undergraduate, Jimmy received Dean’s List honors and served as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters. He currently serves as a 1L Representative for Columbia’s Antitrust Law & Economics Association and is a member of the Columbia Business Law Association. Jimmy most recently worked as a consultant at Berkeley Research Group in Boston.
