Weil, Gotshal & Manges has advised Fortune 500 company and leader in global aviation and tourism, HNA Group Co. Ltd. ("HNA Group"), on its CHF 2.73 billion acquisition of Swissport, the world’s largest ground and cargo handling company, from PAI Partners.
Under the terms of the transaction, Swissport will remain a stand-alone business within HNA Group, complementing HNA's existing activities including aviation, airport management, logistics and tourism, and further expanding both companies’ global footprint. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory and anti-trust approvals by the relevant authorities.
Headquartered in Hainan Province, China, HNA Group was founded in 1993 and has over the past two decades grown from a local aviation transportation operator to a multinational conglomerate encompassing aviation, airport management, financial services, real estate, retail, tourism and logistics.
The cross-practice, cross-border Weil team included corporate associates Trina Bose, Emma Robinson and Jamie Holdoway in London and corporate partner Li Li and associate Xin Xu in Beijing. Competition advice was provided by Doug Nave and Nafees Saeed. Juan Picon at DLA Piper advised PAI Partners.
