Paul Genender Honored with Dallas Women Lawyers Association’s James E. Coleman Jr. Her Champion Award 2020

Paul Genender, a Complex Commercial Litigation partner and the leader of Weil’s Litigation practice in Dallas, has been selected by the Dallas Women Lawyers Association (DWLA) to receive its 2020 James E. Coleman Jr. Her Champion Award in recognition of his support and dedication to advancing women in the legal profession.

The DWLA’s James E. Coleman Jr. Her Champion Award is named after Texas legal giant James E. Coleman Jr., who was known not only for his outstanding litigation career but also for his significant personal involvement in efforts to integrate women into the legal profession in Dallas in the 1970s. Recipients of this award are nominated and selected by the DWLA board of directors. The honor will be presented during a virtual awards reception on October 28, 2020, and is part of the DWLA’s annual awards program recognizing exceptional legal and community trailblazers.

“We are proud of Paul’s tremendous, ongoing personal efforts to coach our female associates and intentionally place them in positions to have equal professional opportunities,” said Dallas office Co-Managing Partner Courtney Marcus. “His commitment to this cause was instilled early in his career, when he witnessed first-hand the institutional obstacles that his female peers had to overcome in order to succeed. Today, no one works harder to eliminate those obstacles and serve as a champion for his colleagues and mentees than Paul. As such, he is extremely deserving of this recognition.”

Mr. Genender is involved in several of Weil’s initiatives focused on diversity, inclusion and attorney advancement. Currently, he serves as co-chair of the Firm’s Taskforce on Women’s Engagement & Retention (TOWER) and sits on the Firm’s Diversity Committee.
