Since there is no separate bar association for women in New York City, the Committee on Women in the Profession is an especially influential and important vehicle for addressing issues that affect the advancement of women across all sectors of the legal profession – including law offices, corporate law departments, the public sector, and other legal settings. The Committee on Women in the Profession has recently focused on developing programs to support women lawyers in five main areas: (1) women of color; (2) women beginning their careers; (3) women practicing in-house; (4) women practicing intellectual property law; and (5) women partners. For more information on all the programs, studies and events the New York City Bar’s Committee on Women in the Profession holds each year, please visit their website at http://www.nycbar.org/women-in-the-profession.
