Weil senior associate Lauren Alexander has been named an “On the Rise” honoree by the Daily Business Review for 2019. Ms. Alexander is one of 24 attorneys – and only five associates – to be honored with this award, which will be presented on May 23 in Miami. The award, granted to South Florida attorneys younger than 40 for early career accomplishments, is part of the Daily Business Review’s annual Professional Excellence Awards.
Ms. Alexander has substantial commercial litigation experience across a broad range of disputes, including bankruptcy, business torts, contracts, fraud and patents. She is an active member of the legal community, serving as a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the National Association for Women Lawyers. She is also an avid participant in the Firm’s Pro Bono initiatives.
As noted in her Q&A with Daily Business Review, Ms. Alexander led a team of Weil’s Miami attorneys in securing an order on an issue of first impression from a Florida state court expunging the convictions of a victim of human trafficking under the state’s human trafficking victim expunction statute. She is also working to petition for legislative changes to the Human Trafficking Expungement Statute that would offer more complete relief to victims.
