Weil Technology & IP Transactions partner Karen Ballack has been named by Silicon Valley Business Journal in its feature “100 Women Rocking Silicon Valley Business: Meet the 2015 Women of Influence.” In the profile, Ms. Ballack discusses her career path from working as a courtroom deputy in federal court, to attending law school, and ultimately to becoming a successful technology and IP transactional lawyer in the San Francisco Bay area. The profile also details Ms. Ballack’s civic and community involvement, including her work as a member of the board of directors of The Progeria Research Foundation and the co-chair of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County’s Annual Awards fundraising event.
Ms. Ballack stated the best advice she ever received was from her parents on the importance of using words of courtesy, respect and appreciation. Her best advice to others is to always be respectful and well prepared for meetings and to “listen to and consider what others in the meeting have to say, and contribute to the meeting in a meaningful and constructive way.” She added that it is also important to “step out of your ‘comfort zone’ from time to time . . . for your professional and personal growth and happiness.”
Ms. Ballack is a member of Weil’s Management Committee. The Silicon Valley Business Journal will honor this year's 100 most influential women in Silicon Valley on Thursday, May 7, at The Fairmont in downtown San Jose. Silicon Valley Business Journal identified 100 women the editors believe have made the biggest impact across all professions and sectors in Silicon Valley.
