Technology and IP Transactions partner Jeffrey Osterman has been named an MVP for his role in counseling technology giants such as Intel Corporation in its largest acquisition ever, as well as Verizon Communications and Sanofi SA in similarly high profile transactions over the past year.
Mr. Osterman’s practice focuses on leading licensing agreement transactions and advising on the IP aspects of complex mergers and acquisitions. He recently led a deal in which he advised Sanofi in a transaction worth up to $4.2 billion to buy a worldwide, exclusive licensing agreement from Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. to create and sell a portfolio of experiment diabetes treatments. He also advised Intel Corporation in its $16.7 billion merger with Altera on all of the licensing and intellectual property aspects of the record-setting acquisition. Mr. Osterman was also on hand to advise Verizon Communications on the technology-related aspects of it its $4.4 billion acquisition of AOL in 2015 and again counseled the telecommunications giant through the technology-related aspects of its acquisition of Sensity Systems in September 2016.
Mr. Osterman, who has a background in physics and patent litigation, encourages future attorneys to similarly pursue a diverse array of skillsets noting, “Don’t constrain yourself to doing only IP law or M&A. Be willing to understand a little bit of accounting and tax and an amount of litigation.”
