During a panel titled “Towards Better Capitalism” as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Ira Millstein was identified as a thought leader in corporate governance. Columbia University’s Millstein Center Advisory Board Vice Chair Theresa Whitmarsh, who also serves as Executive Director of the Washington State Investment Board (WSIB), participated in the panel, which was hosted by Business Insider. The panel covered a number of topics, including how corporate management, boards and investors can align to support long-term value creation amid rising concern over ownership structures. During the discussion, Ms. Whitmarsh mentioned Mr. Millstein’s view that there is a new market force that is not financial, and that we are essentially [at this time] redefining the future of the American corporation.
