Weil has again been ranked among the “Best Places to Work” for members of the LGBTQ community with a perfect score of 100% on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s CEI is a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees. The Firm is among the ranks of an elite group of major U.S. businesses which also received top marks this year.
The CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination policies across business entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, internal education and accountability metrics to promote LGBTQ inclusion competency, and public commitment to LGBTQ equality. Weil’s diversity and inclusion efforts have fulfilled all of the CEI’s criteria, thereby earning a 100% ranking and the designation of a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
Weil has maintained a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the LGBT+ community at large. For over 30 years, the Firm has been a leader in investing in formal initiatives to empower and cultivate an inclusive culture. The Firm uses the term LGBT+, inspired by Out Leadership which Weil is a member of, to ensure that the Firm is inclusive of all identities to make the community feel welcomed and make certain that nobody is left out. WEGALA, the LGBT+ affinity group of Weil, was established with the primary purpose of enhancing the recruitment and retention of LGBT+ attorneys and fostering a better understanding of the unique issues facing the LGBT+ community.
