Weil Silicon Valley-based patent litigation partner Edward Reines was recently profiled as an “Icon of IP” in Law360’s inaugural series honoring 25 lawyers who have emerged as thought leaders in the intellectual property space.
The profile highlights some of Mr. Reines’ most notable victories and features comments by peers, clients and judges.
Mr. Reines is described as someone with a “razor-sharp intellect,” “a strong advocate,” and “a strategic thinker.”
David Lender, Co-Chair of Weil’s global Litigation Department, praised Mr. Reines’ talent saying, “He takes this incredible wealth of knowledge and real aptitude for the technology, but then he can bring it down to its essence…that’s where he really excels.”
The profile also details two recent cases in which Mr. Reines was particularly effective, including - an appellate victory in a patent infringement case on behalf of Newegg Inc. in which Mr. Reines persuaded the Federal Circuit to overturn a Texas jury’s $2.5 million verdict, and his successful postponement of the enforcement of a preliminary injunction that would have banned some U.S. sales of a Medtronic Inc. heart valve system.
