Weil Life Sciences practice co-chair Edward Reines was recently named among the “Top Intellectual Property Attorneys” in California for 2018 by the Daily Journal.
In its profile of Mr. Reines, the Daily Journal highlights his role in obtaining a major victory for client Life Technologies, a genetic testing company, in its patent dispute with Promega over gene testing technology. Promega sued Life Technologies, alleging infringement of five patents related to DNA testing. Weil’s team, led by Mr. Reines, stepped in for Life Technologies after a $52 million infringement jury verdict in Promega’s favor. A federal judge then granted Life Technologies’ post-trial motion for judgment as a matter of law and effectively dismissed the verdict.
The Daily Journal names attorneys to this list and profiles them based on a number of criteria including hundreds of nominations and staff selections, along with consideration of each nominee’s major intellectual property successes over the last year.
