Weil's Edward Reines, a partner in the Patent Litigation practice based in the Firm's Silicon Valley office, has been selected by the Daily Journal as one of its Top 100 California IP Attorneys in California for 2014 for the sixth consecutive year. In addition to his robust and highly successful trial and appellate practice, Mr. Reines has also been an active participant in the effort to shape patent reform legislation in the US Senate. As described in the Daily Journal, “When Reines isn’t scoring victories for his commercial clients, he’s been busy meeting with staffers from the Obama administration and the U.S. Senate to help shape patent reform.” In January 2014 he was named president of the Federal Bar Association's Northern District of California Chapter. Mr. Reines also chairs the patent rules advisory committee of the Northern District; teaches patent litigation at UC Berkeley School of Law and Stanford Law School; and is involved in the federal judicial nomination process. “That diverse background gives me perspective," he said. "I'm not bound to one commercial interest. I have an interest in promoting the patent system and trying to direct things in a positive way.”
