Courtney S. Marcus, Managing Partner of Weil’s Dallas office and a partner in the Firm’s Banking & Finance practice, has been selected as a “Texas Trailblazer” by Texas Lawyer. In a special supplement to Texas Lawyer, she was profiled among a select group of Texas attorneys recognized as “agents of change” in their respective practice areas.
The profile highlighted Ms. Marcus’ accomplishments as a top banking and finance attorney and a driving force for diversity in the law, and noted the leadership, creative problem solving and innovative streak that characterize her practice.
“Right now, we’re being protective, proactive and entrepreneurial in helping our clients find ways to do business and invest capital and resources during a period with lots of unknowns,” Ms. Marcus said.
Ms. Marcus advises private equity firms, public and private corporate borrowers, and investors on their most sophisticated financing transactions. Her expertise in corporate finance – and a granular understanding of her clients’ businesses – enables Ms. Marcus to provide both “big-picture strategizing” and “transaction structures that best suit her clients’ short-term and long-term goals,” according to Texas Lawyer.
The profile also noted Ms. Marcus’ commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the impact she has had as a leader of the Dallas office. In addition to furthering diversity across the office, she has overseen the growth of a leading Banking & Finance team that is majority female and highly diverse.
“The practice of law requires intellectual curiosity to come up with novel solutions,” Ms. Marcus said. “To do that, I need people who offer different ideas and don’t look like me.”
