Clearing Up Confusion About Noncompete Agreements

Christopher Cox, who heads Weil’s Silicon Valley complex commercial litigation practice, and Litigation counsel David R. Singh and associate Bambo Obaro co-authored the article “Clearing Up Confusion About Noncompete Agreements,” published by the Daily Journal. The article explores California’s Business and Professions Code Sections 16600, et seq., which govern employee noncompete agreements. California is one of only four US states that generally will not enforce a noncompete agreement; the state has a strong public policy in favor of employee mobility and fair competition, and against restraints of trade, including through noncompete agreements.
