Andrew Chizzik Profiled as Law360 Fund Formation MVP for 2020

Weil Private Funds partner Andrew Chizzik has been profiled in Law360 as a 2020 Fund Formation MVP. He is just one of five attorneys industry-wide recognized for outstanding achievements and contributions to the practice area over the last year.

The Q&A profile highlighted Mr. Chizzik’s leadership and expertise in guiding the formation of some of the market’s most notable funds. It recognized his role advising Brookfield Asset Management in its formation of Brookfield Infrastructure Fund IV, a $20 billion global infrastructure fund that is the second-largest infrastructure fund ever raised and Brookfield's largest fund to date. The landmark fundraise was particularly gratifying for Mr. Chizzik as it punctuated the growth and success of his longtime client.

"I say all the time that I'm so fortunate not just to have clients that raise impressive funds, but also clients that are genuinely good people and good friends," Mr. Chizzik said. "It makes work much more meaningful, and frankly much easier to do when you have that relationship with the person on the other side of the phone."

The collaborative spirit and personal focus also defines Mr. Chizzik’s experience at Weil, whether in recruiting and mentoring associates in the Private Funds practice or working with senior partners on cutting-edge transactions. He is particularly proud that attorneys he has helped mentor are excelling in their own right at the forefront of the industry.

"To see them grow into what I believe is the most talented team of associates around and working on these large, complex transactions makes me incredibly proud, and makes me really excited to be part of the team," he said.

Asked for his advice to up-and-coming attorneys, Mr. Chizzik emphasized the importance of balance in one’s personal and professional pursuits. When Mr. Chizzik joined the Private Funds practice, his colleagues personified this approach to excellence and Mr. Chizzik continues to carry forward the example they set.

"The group was full of really good, down-to-earth, intellectually curious people who were devoted to their craft and to their clients and still managed to have other pursuits and dimensions," Mr. Chizzik said. "I just felt at home and have ever since."
