Vance L. Beagles is a partner in the Litigation department of the firm's Dallas, Texas office. He litigates commercial matters for a wide range of public and private clients, with a focus on class actions, business torts, litigation for energy companies, landlord/tenant disputes, breach of contract, professional malpractice, post-closing private equity purchase price adjustments, state and federal securities litigation, and bankruptcy litigation. He has litigated in state and federal courts in California, Delaware, Hawaii, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin.
Mr. Beagles has been involved in litigating commercial disputes on behalf of many Dallas-based clients such as HM Capital Partners (formerly Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Incorporated), Greyhound Lines, Inc., Reef Exploration, and Ventex Oil & Gas, as well as some of the world's largest companies and professional firms, including Arthur Andersen LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, DLJ Real Estate Capital Investments, ExxonMobil Corporation, General Electric Capital Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and Williams Companies.
In addition, Mr. Beagles has regularly provided bankruptcy litigation support to clients of the firm’s Business Finance & Restructuring Department, including Blockbuster, Inc., Enron Corporation, General Motors Corporation, Lehman Brothers, Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, and Texas Rangers Baseball Partners.
In 2010, the Dallas Business Journal and the Association of Corporate Counsel named Mr. Beagles as one of the "Defenders" -- the top 15 business defense attorneys in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Mr. Beagles has written and given speeches on the topics of discovery issues, defeating class certification, and the due diligence defense in the context of section 11 securities litigation. Mr. Beagles was a member of the Southern Methodist University Law Review and the recipient of multiple oral and written advocacy awards.
