Stephen K. Shahida is a Patent Litigation partner in the Washington, DC office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where his practice focuses on complex patent disputes. Prior to joining Weil he headed the Washington, DC Intellectual Property Litigation practice at McDermott Will & Emery.
Mr. Shahida has successfully handled numerous cases before several district courts, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US International Trade Commission (ITC). Much of his litigation practice has involved divergent technologies such as integrated circuit designs, semiconductor processes, graphics accelerator chips, advanced medical devices, high modulus low shrinkage fibers, internet and e-mail services, massive storage devices, analog and digital circuit design, disk drives, and various aspects of telephony. In addition to his district court and ITC experience, Mr. Shahida has successfully handled appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, including on behalf of defendant-appellee in Boston Scientific v. Medtronic, a case in which the Federal Circuit affirmed the grant of a summary judgment that he also handled at the trial court.
Mr. Shahida received his BS in electrical and computer engineering from George Mason University and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. While in law school he received the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor Law.
Mr. Shahida is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia as well as before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and many US district courts. He is a member of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association.
