Stephen T. Schwarzbach

Stephen Schwarzbach is an associate in the Business, Finance and Restructuring practice group in Weil’s Houston office. Mr. Schwarzbach’s practice deals primarily with bankruptcy and insolvency issues, and has represented AMR Corporation/American Airlines, Inc. in their chapter 11 proceedings and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in bankruptcy related litigation.

In addition to his work for corporate clients, Mr. Schwarzbach acts as pro bono counsel to SpringSpirit Baseball, a non-profit sport and mentoring program for children living in Houston’s disadvantaged neighborhoods. Mr. Schwarzbach also provides pro bono services to indigent refugees, most recently representing a victim of human trafficking in her application for citizenship.

Mr. Schwarzbach received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown, Mr. Schwarzbach was selected to participate in the Harrison Institute for Housing and Community Development, through which he provided real estate and corporate legal representation to D.C. residents living in affordable housing. While with the Harrison Institute, Mr. Schwarzbach worked with Enterprise Community Partners to train representatives of D.C.-area churches and non-profits on real estate development and non-profit governance. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University, where he currently serves on the Young Alumni Advisory Counsel to the Association of Former Students.
