Scott M. Sontag is a co-head of Weil’s global Tax practice. His practice covers a broad range of international and domestic transactions, such as structuring and negotiating complex merger and acquisition transactions for private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as the Firm's publicly held clients. In addition, Mr. Sontag advises clients extensively on transactions involving the formation and acquisition of REITs and on real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings.
Mr. Sontag has been consistently recognized as a leading Tax lawyer by Chambers USA and Legal 500 US. In addition, he has been named among the leading Bankruptcy Tax Specialists in the nation’s major law firms by Turnarounds and Workouts magazine. In 2011, Mr. Sontag was selected by Investment Dealers’ Digest for its annual “40 Under 40” list of the top up-and-coming professionals in the finance industry.
Mr. Sontag is a graduate of New York University School of Law and the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Administration. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
