Rupert Jones has specialised in real estate work since qualifying in 1978, and he became a partner with Allen & Overy over 20 years ago. He joined Weil in 2002 as senior European counsel to lead the London Real Estate team.
Rupert’s breadth of work includes considerable experience acting for institutional lenders and other investors in real estate, advising on the property aspects of private mergers & acquisitions, advising administrators, receivers and other insolvency practitioners on all aspects of real estate issues and financial experience ranging from due diligence in respect of secured property assets to the real estate aspects of securitized transactions such as on Canary Wharf. While at Allen & Overy, he was also head of its planning law group and a founding member of its environmental law team. Rupert has a particular interest in the retail sector.
Rupert was elected chairman of the City of London Law Society’s Planning and Environmental Law Committee in December 2005 having been a member of the Committee since 1997.
