Rene Trevino is an associate in the Litigation Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. Mr. Trevino practices in the area of patent litigation and has represented clients involved in several different fields, including pharmaceutical products and hardware and software technologies. Additionally, Mr. Trevino has successfully represented clients before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. Trevino also served as a volunteer prosecutor for the city of Houston in its Municipal Courts, where he obtained first-chair trial experience in several jury cases.
Mr. Trevino graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Computer Sciences in 1998. He received his law degree, with high honors, from the Texas Southern University–Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2005, and served as the senior articles editor of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Trevino worked as a Software Engineer for the IBM Corp. in Austin, Texas from 1998 till 2002.
While completing his LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property & Information Law from the University of Houston–Law Center, Mr. Trevino served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Edith H. Jones–United States Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit and for the Honorable David Hittner–United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas.
Prior to joining Weil, Mr. Trevino served as a law clerk for the Honorable Leonard E. Davis–United States Chief District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas (2006-2007).
