Victoria Burton
Victoria Burton is an associate in the International Dispute Resolution practice in London, and a member of the firm’s International Arbitration and global Litigation groups.

Victoria has acted for clients on a range of complex commercial disputes before the High Court and Court of Appeal, including claims for breach of contract, issues relating to directors’ duties, employment claims, shareholder disputes and regulatory investigations, as well as proceedings in the First-tier Tax Tribunal and in the Upper Tribunal of the Tax and Chancery Chamber.

Victoria’s experience also includes advising clients on alternative dispute resolution solutions and assisting with mediations.

Her practice also includes providing pro bono legal advice to a range of charitable organisations and Victoria also regularly provides pro bono legal advice through the Citizen’s Advice Bureau at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Representative experience as part of a team includes:

  • Securing victory for Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay and their associated companies for the multimillion-pound action related to the Maybourne Hotel Group
  • Ingenious Media in a £1bn+ appeal against amendments made by HMRC to the tax returns of a number of film production partnerships
  • Investec Bank plc in relation to a claim for breaches of employment contracts relating to bonus payments and also in relation to the scope of the FSA Remuneration Code;
  • Investec Bank plc in relation to High Court proceedings brought by a private wealth client under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
