Lori Fife was a partner in the Restructuring Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she practiced for more than 31 years. She was also a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. Lori’s practice covered all aspects of domestic and international debt restructurings, as well as crisis management and corporate governance. She represented companies, bank groups, funds, first and second lien lenders, acquirors, unsecured creditors and other parties in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court debt restructurings. Lori has significant experience in a wide array of industries including, financial services, telecommunications, real estate, retailing, supermarkets, coal, food services and healthcare.

Lori was one of the partners leading the Firm’s representation of Lehman Brothers and its affiliates in their chapter 11 cases. She was also one of the lead partners representing MCI, Inc. (formerly WorldCom, Inc.), Loral Space & Communications, The Sharper Image, Finlay Enterprises, Sunbeam Corporation, Bruno’s, Inc., Best Products Co., Inc., Premium Standard Farms and CHI Energy, Inc., in their respective chapter 11 cases.

Lori has also represented major lender interests in out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases. Some of the matters in which she has been involved representing lenders or other parties in interest include American Home Mortgage, HSH Delaware, ProtoStar, Denver Radio, Lionel, Equa-Chlor, aaiPharma, Arch Wireless, Federated Department Stores, Donald J. Trump and affiliates and Heilig Meyers. Lori has been involved in numerous financing transactions and asset sale transactions on behalf of the seller or buyer.

Lori was recognized in Chambers USA from 2005-2014 in the field of Bankruptcy/Restructuring. Lori was also recognized in Chambers Global 2007-2014, Best Lawyers in America in 2013 and Expert Guides 2014 “Women in Business Law” for Insolvency and Restructuring.

Lori is a member of the International Insolvency Institute and a fellow member of the American College of Bankruptcy. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and its Section of Business Law and the New York City Bar Association. She has lectured and written articles on numerous occasions on bankruptcy topics.
