Lori Fife is a partner in the Business Finance & Restructuring Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she has practiced for more than 30 years. She is also a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. Ms. Fife’s practice covers all aspects of domestic and international debt restructurings, as well as crisis management and corporate governance. She has represented companies, bank groups, funds, first and second lien lenders, acquirors, unsecured creditors and other parties in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court debt restructurings. Ms. Fife has significant experience in a wide array of industries including, financial services, telecommunications, real estate, retailing, supermarkets, coal, food services and healthcare.
Ms. Fife was one of the partners leading the Firm’s representation of Lehman Brothers and its affiliates in their chapter 11 cases. She was also one of the lead partners representing MCI, Inc. (formerly WorldCom, Inc.), Loral Space & Communications, The Sharper Image, Finlay Enterprises, Steve & Barry’s, Sunbeam Corporation, Bruno’s, Inc., Factory Card Outlet, Best Products Co., Inc., Premium Standard Farms, Galvex and CHI Energy, Inc., in their respective chapter 11 cases.
Ms. Fife has also represented major lender interests in out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases. Some of the matters in which she has been involved representing lenders or other parties in interest include American Home Mortgage, HSH Delaware, ACA Capital, Hayes Lemmerz, TOUSA, ProtoStar, Denver Radio, Herbst Gaming, CCS Medical, Lionel, Equa-Chlor, aaiPharma, Dura Automotive, Pliant, Arch Wireless, Federated Department Stores, Donald J. Trump and affiliates and Heilig Meyers. Ms. Fife has been involved in numerous debtor in possession financing transactions and asset sale transactions on behalf of the seller or buyer.
Ms. Fife is recognized in Chambers USA from 2005-2013 in the field of Bankruptcy/Restructuring. Ms. Fife was also recognized in Chambers Global 2007-2013 and in Best Lawyers in America in 2013.
Ms. Fife is a member of the International Insolvency Institute and a fellow member of the American College of Bankruptcy. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and its Section of Business Law and the New York City Bar Association. She has lectured and written articles on numerous occasions on bankruptcy topics.
