Paul H. Asofsky is a partner in the Houston office, where he has headed the Tax group since 1990.
Mr. Asofsky’s practice includes the full range of tax issues, federal and state, with emphasis on private investment partnerships, mergers & acquisitions, real estate investments and bankruptcy and debt restructuring. He heads the private equity group within the firm’s Tax Department. In this area, his practice includes structuring private equity, real estate and hedge funds with a view to accommodating the interests of domestic, foreign and tax-exempt investors, structuring acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio investments and structuring general partner and manager compensation arrangements.
Mr. Asofsky currently serves as chairman of the private equity subcommittee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation’s Committee on Partnerships. He is a Conferee of the National Bankruptcy Conference, where for many years he chaired the Committee on Tax Matters. Mr. Asofsky is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law. He has been a member of the Tax Forum and the Tax Club in New York City and is a founding member and former president of the Houston Tax Roundtable. Mr. Asofsky is also a frequent speaker at major tax institutes, bar association meetings and commercial tax seminars. He has been a member and chairman of many bar association committees and subcommittees and has written many published articles. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel.
