(June 20, 2012, Weil News)
Global law firm Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP has been ranked fifth in
Practical Law Company Which Lawyer?'s Restructuring and Insolvency: Super League 2012, out-performing other magic circle firms.
PLC recognized Weil as a leading law firm in the US, recommending Weil as a leading firm in New York, and highly recommending Weil's Texas offices. The survey noted: "Having an established brand in the US for Chapter 11 bankruptcy work, and as debtor counsel to Lehman Brothers, it is no surprise that Weil Gotshal maintains a leading practice in New York and consequently in the US as a whole."
Significantly,
PLC also acknowledged Weil as a top firm in Europe.
PLC recommended Weil as a leading law firm in France in the "Restructuring and Insolvency: Administrator Side" category. In addition, Weil was highly recommended in the Czech Republic and Hungary, was recommended in the "Restructuring and Insolvency: High-End" category in England, and was recommended in Poland. The UK publication discussed Weil's growing strength in Europe:
The firm’s initial stronghold in Europe rests with Jean-Dominique Daudier de Cassini and Philippe Druon in Paris, although the recruitment in 2011 of London-based Adam Plainer from Jones Day shows commitment towards spreading the practice's brand to the UK. The fact that the London office was selected by MF Global UK to initiate the first ever filing under the UK’s Special Administration Rules demonstrates the strength of the team’s reputation. Weil also has a very well-established and respectable presence across Eastern Europe, particularly in the Czech Republic.
In addition,
PLC recommended 13 Weil lawyers from across the US and Europe:
