Weil Lawyers Featured as Dealmakers of the Year 2012 by The American Lawyer

Thomas Roberts Recognized for Kinder Morgan/El Paso deal; Michael Aiello Recognized for Sanofi/Genzyme deal

(March 29, 2012, Weil News)

Two Weil Corporate partners were recognized by The American Lawyer as Dealmakers of the Year 2012. Thomas A. Roberts was named a Dealmaker of the Year for his role in advising Kinder Morgan, Inc. in its October 2011 agreement to acquire El Paso Corporation for approximately $38 billion, among the largest energy deals in history, and Michael J. Aiello received an Honorable Mention for his role advising Sanofi in its $20.1 billion acquisition of Genzyme Corporation, where he turned the deal from hostile to friendly by using a tool called a contingent value right.

Mr. Roberts with Weil Corporate partner R. Jay Tabor and Mr. Aiello had previously been named AmLaw Dealmakers of the Week in connection with these transactions.

The American Lawyer’s Dealmakers of the Year feature appears in the April 2012 issue (may require registration/subscription).

The American Lawyer is owned by ALM, a leading provider of specialized business news and information, focused primarily on the legal and commercial real estate sectors. The Dealmakers of the Year selection process was based on a three-part criteria – the size, significance and/or industry impact of a deal, the complexity of a transaction, and the lawyer’s added value.
