CBSSports.com’s Ken Berger featured Weil Gotshal & Manges partner James W. Quinn, touting Weil’s global head of litigation as an “ideally qualified person with the right relationships and experience” to help end the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) ongoing labor dispute with professional basketball players. Berger described Quinn as “the ideal middle man to bring the two sides together” given Quinn’s long-time involvement with the NBA and its players. For nearly 20 years, Quinn served as lead outside counsel for the National Basketball Players Association and helped broker the deal that ended the 1998-99 lockout.
When asked about the likelihood of participating in the current dispute, Quinn responded to CBSSports.com, “I’m happy to be helpful, if asked.”
