Capping an extraordinary year, Weil, Gotshal & Manges was named by
The American Lawyer magazine as a finalist in two categories in its Litigation Department of the Year competition. Weil Gotshal was one of six finalists profiled in the January 4, 2010 edition of the magazine for its General Litigation Department of the Year award. The firm was also one of four finalists profiled for the Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the Year award.

The American Lawyer cited Weil Gotshal for its strengths in securities, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and general commercial litigation, noting the firm’s pivotal role in some of the largest corporate crises of the past two years, including ongoing representations of AIG, Lehman Brothers, and General Motors.
The American Lawyer editors further lauded Weil Gotshal for its prowess in winning high-stakes intellectual property cases for “blue chip” clients Merck, eBay, and Genentech, among others.
The American Lawyer’s fifth biennial Litigation Department of the Year competition was judged based on submissions from the top 200 U.S. law firms and covered litigation activities for the 19-month period January 1, 2008 – July 31, 2009. The competition included four categories: overall litigation department and practice areas product liability, labor and employment, and intellectual property.
