Weil Gotshal Advises N.E.W. in Its Round of Investment by Berkshire Partners and Freeman Spogli

New York, August 8, 2006 - Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, the international law firm, advised N.E.W. Customer Service Companies (NEW) in its major investment by Berkshire Partners, along with Freeman Spogli & Co.

The management of NEW also made an investment as part of the transaction, which gave NEW an enterprise value of approximately $1.21 US billion.

NEW currently manages more than 70 million active consumer extended service contracts that span a broad range of products including consumer electronics, home office equipment, sporting goods, lawn and garden equipment, and consumer electronics.

NEW’s programs generate over $2 billion in sales for major national retailers, manufacturers, utilities and financial services companies. NEW also provides post-sale customer care through its eight call centers and network of over 25,000 independent service centers.
