Michael Walsh has concentrated his practice in business reorganizations, corporate finance, and secured transactions since joining the firm in 1979. He has represented both creditors and debtors in a wide variety of restructuring and bankruptcy matters.

Mr. Walsh is experienced advising boards of directors in situations involving financial distress. He founded the firm’s Telecommunications and Technology Restructuring practice. Mr. Walsh was lead bankruptcy counsel for Global Crossing and represents other companies in the sector.

Mr. Walsh also founded the firm’s Healthcare Restructuring practice. In that field he was lead counsel for Genesis Health Ventures, Inc. and Sun Healthcare Group, Inc., two of the largest nursing home chains in the US.

Mr. Walsh has represented creditors or creditors committees in numerous restructurings, such as JWP, Inc. (now known as Emcore), E-II Holdings, Inc. (now known as Samsonite Corporation), and El Paso Electric Company. He pioneered the use of “prepackaged” Chapter 11 cases and has taught and lectured on that and other restructuring topics.

Mr. Walsh is an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law, teaching advanced topics in business reorganization.
