Matthew Goren is an associate in the Business Finance & Restructuring department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, representing debtors in the context of corporate restructurings and liquidations, including the chapter 11 cases of Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc. and Finlay Enterprises, Inc. He also is experienced representing financial advisers as retained professionals in chapter 11 cases.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Goren clerked for the Honorable Burton R. Lifland, Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Before that, he was an associate in the Business Reorganizations and Creditors' Rights department at Kaye Scholer LLP, where he represented (i) debtors and creditors, including major financial and lending institutions, in connection with corporate restructurings and (ii) court-appointed receivers in proceedings before the State and District Courts involving ponzi schemes and other fraudulent activities.

Mr. Goren received a B.S., in marketing and general business management, from the University of Maryland, College Park and a J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he served as Executive Case Comments Editor for the New York Law School Law Review.
