Mary Korby is a Corporate partner in the Dallas office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. The focus of her practice is mergers & acquisitions, including complex cross-border public and private transactions in diverse industries such as offshore exploration and production, chemicals, aviation and manufacturing. She also represents private equity and hedge fund investors in acquisitions, dispositions and public and private debt and equity offerings and advises in restructurings and acquisitions involving companies in bankruptcy.
Ms. Korby represented Millennium Chemicals in its $3.6 billion stock-for-stock disposition to Lyondell Chemicals; American Airlines in its acquisition of TWA; Enron in its $3 billion disposition of its online energy trading business; Enron in its $300 million disposition of Mariner Energy; Invensys plc in various acquisitions and divestitures in Europe, the U.S. and Asia; Lone Star Technologies, an energy-related pipe manufacturer, in its $2.1 billion disposition to U.S. Steel and an investor group in the purchase of preferred equity in Regency Energy Partners LP, one of the first investments in the preferred equity of a public limited partnership. She acted as senior advisor to Enron in the disposition of numerous other domestic and foreign businesses in connection with its bankruptcy, both through bankruptcy court procedures and in out-of-court transactions. Ms. Korby has represented clients in numerous international transactions involving investments and dispositions in Europe, China, India and South America.
Ms. Korby has been recognized for many years for her expertise in corporate law matters, including recognition in The Best Lawyers in America; Chambers USA; The International Who’s Who of Corporate Governance Lawyers; The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers and Chambers Global.
