Marc L. Silberberg is a member of the firm’s Tax Department, and has been a partner in the firm since 1987. His practice focuses principally on the structuring and negotiation of mergers, acquisitions and restructurings on behalf of publicly traded companies, closely held companies and private equity funds and their portfolio companies.
Representative transactions include the combination of DIRECTV and Liberty Entertainment in connection with the split-off of Liberty Entertainment from Liberty Media, the acquisition of Univision Communications, Inc. by a consortium of private equity funds, numerous acquisitions and investments by Thomas H. Lee Partners and Providence Equity Partners and the split-off of DIRECTV from General Motors.
Mr. Silberberg is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section, and has been the co-chair of the Committees on Investment Funds, Pass-Through Entities and Tax Accounting. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist on federal income tax matters.
Mr. Silberberg received his B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. and LL.M in taxation from New York University School of Law.
