Dr. Maciej Tomaszewski has been counsel with the firm's Warsaw office since 1992. His practice is devoted to corporate law, real estate law, international business law and arbitration.
Dr. Tomaszewski is assistant professor (docent) at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw, where he teaches private international law, international business law and international commercial arbitration. He is i.a. a registered arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce and has acted as an arbitrator or presiding arbitrator in approximately 200 international and domestic arbitration cases (including cases under the rules of arbitration of the ICC Court of Arbitration).
From 1992 to 1996 he was active with the Committee for Reform of Civil Law as a member of working groups on international civil procedure, arbitration, company law and pledge law (he was a co-author of the draft law on registered pledges and the registry of pledges).
Since 2001, Dr. Tomaszewski has been acting within the international civil procedure and arbitration working groups of the Committee for Codification of Civil Law. He is the author of many publications on private international law, international commercial law, arbitration and civil law. In 2006 Dr Tomaszewski was appointed by the Polish Government to act as arbitrator in a considerable BIT arbitration (pending at present).
