Lara Veblen is an associate in the Litigation Department of the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and a member of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice group. Ms. Veblen advises clients in a wide range of complex commercial disputes, class actions, government investigations, and international arbitrations. She has experience in numerous industries, including technology, health care, chemicals, financial services, and communications. Ms. Veblen represents clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in matters before federal, state, and international enforcement agencies.
Ms. Veblen is also active in the firm’s representation of pro bono clients, and serves on the Junior Board of Urban Pathways, a non-profit organization providing services, assistance, and housing to homeless New Yorkers, and as an emergency room advocate for victims of violence for Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Ms. Veblen is admitted to practice in the state of New York and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the American Bar Association, where she is a member of the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee.
Prior to joining Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Ms. Veblen worked as a litigation associate in the New York office of Davis Polk & Wardwell. Ms. Veblen was born in Paris, France and is fluent in German.
Ms. Veblen graduated, magna cum laude, from Harvard College in 2002 and in 2005 received her J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was an editor of the law review and the recipient of the G. Newton Greene Memorial Prize. She has a certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Veblen acted as Teaching Assistant to Professor Anita Allen in Philosophy and as Research Assistant to Professor Claire Finkelstein in Contracts. Ms. Veblen serves on the gift and participation committees for her graduating class’s 10th reunion at Harvard College, and is actively involved in the Harvard Alumni Association.
